DAHLONGEGA - The Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team was unable to record its second-straight victory over North Georgia, as the Saints defeated GSW 7-2 on Saturday afternoon. It was the Peach Belt Conference opener for both schools.
The Hurricanes fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, with their lone win coming at No. 3 where Chris Eastwood and Stephen Moore beat Giovani Santos and Brandon Sloan, 8-5.
Yvan Ruelle won a three-set affair at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 over Rodrigo Magan, to give the Hurricanes their final point in the match.
Eastwood at No. 4 and Koonce at No. 6 took their matches to a third set, but could not come away with a victory.
GSW defeated North Georgia, 5-4, last spring in Americus.
The Hurricanes travel to Shorter on Tuesday for a 2:30 p.m. match.
