Marshall & Landis Win At Ranked Middle Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. - Singles victories by No. 4 Oliver Marshall and No. 5 Joel Landis accounted for Georgia Southwestern's team points in a 7-2 loss at Middle Georgia State University, ranked No. 24 in NAIA, on Wednesday afternoon at the Abbott Tennis Courts. The women lost 9-0 to 12th-ranked Middle Georgia.

GSW returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday with matches at Young Harris College at 2:30 p.m.

The Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team saw its record drop to 2-8 this spring after a 7-2 loss at Middle Georgia on Wednesday. Middle Georgia improved to 6-4.

The Hurricanes No. 3 doubles team of Jonathan Martin and Andrew Greneker had the closest match in doubles play, falling to Colby Gandy and Alavaro Conesa, 8-5.

Oliver Marshall cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles for GSW over Elliot Wharton, while Joel Landis pushed past Jake Hicks at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1.

Anneliese Leahy had a strong showing in only her second match of the season at No. 1 singles as she lost 7-5, 6-2 against Anastasiia Vasileva. Celia del Castillo Torres (No. 2) and Jamie Thomas (No. 4) pushed their first sets to 6-4 scores before dropping the second, 6-1.
