Hurricanes One of Three PBC Schools Earning ITA All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team status and freshman Luke Eafano was named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete list for the 2018 season.

Eafano, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., played in 19 doubles matches and 12 singles matches this spring. He helped the Hurricanes notch a program-best seven team victories, their most in a season since joining the NCAA in 2006-07.

The Scholar-Athlete award is given to all varsity letter winners with two semesters at their current school and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the academic year.

Georgia Southwestern is one of three Peach Belt programs to earn the All-Academic Team recognition, joining Columbus State and Lander University.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).
