The Armstrong Atlantic State softball squad picked up a Peach Belt doubleheader sweep of visiting Georgia Southwestern State on Friday afternoon. The Pirates won game one, 4-0, then took game two, 12-3, in six innings.

Spring Break Bingo Bash
Select student-athletes from Georgia Southwestern State University took some time out of their spring break schedule to play a few games with friends. Games of BINGO, that is. Members of the GSW Softball and Cross Country teams gathered Wednesday to join in the regularly scheduled Bingo game held in the Retirement Center at Magnolia Manor.

Freshman southpaw Jessica Martin silenced the Anderson University bats by throwing a no-hitter in game two of the Lady 'Canes doubleheader in Anderson, S.C. on Monday afternoon. Anderson won the first game, 7-4. GSW took the second game, 1-0.

New youth programs launched
The Georgia Southwestern athletics department unveiled the GSW Baseball and Softball Buddies programs today. At select Hurricanes home games, a youth team (ages 5 to 13) will be recognized as the Hurricane Buddies team of the night presented by McDonald's.

Georgia Southwestern pitchers did not allow an earned run over 15 innings in a doubleheader against Rollins College Saturday afternoon at Lady ‘Canes Field, however the offense could manage only three hits and GSW was defeated 1-0 – in nine innings – and 2-0.

The Lady Hurricanes combined for four hits in a doubleheader as West Georgia took the two games by 8-0 and 5-1 scores. GSW didn’t have a hit in Game 1 and committed seven errors over the two games.

Lady 'Canes rally to win season-opener
GSW came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Albany State 6-4 in eight innings in the first game of the GSW Invitational. Freshman Jessica Martin pitched 5.1 innings of scoreless ball to get the win. The Lady Hurricanes play two more games today (2pm at Southland Academy and 8pm at Lady 'Canes Field).
