No. 9 Rollins College Too Much for Lady Hurricanes

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes started off their weekend Florida road trip with a double-header at ninth-ranked Rollins College Saturday evening looking to continue their recent strong play against the Tars.

Rollins suffered their lone loss of the season earlier this year at Lady 'Cane Field as GSW triumphed, 3-2, over the Tars.

The Tars and freshman pitcher Niki Fogle proved to be too much for GSW (11-7) in the second meeting as Rollins (17-1) swept the double-header, snapping Southwestern's four-game winning streak.

Game 1: Rollins College 7, GSW 0

After a slow offensive start from both teams, the Tars got on the board first notching a run in the top of the third inning to break the stalemate.
Rollins added two more in the fifth inning and used a pair of GSW errors in the sixth to score four more runs as the Tarts took a commanding 7-0 advantage in the contest.
GSW never threatened as their bats continued to be silenced as the Tars shut out the Lady Hurricanes.
GSW starting pitcher Allison Pastor (6-3) got the loss as the junior threw six innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits for the Blue and Gold.
Rollins' Niki Fogle (7-0) was credited with the win for the Tars as the freshman threw a complete game shutout giving up three hits on the outing.
Game 2: Rollins College 6, GSW 4

The Hurricanes got off to an early advantage in the second game as an Ashley Clifton RBI single scored a run to give the Lady 'Canes a run-run lead.
Rollins countered with a run of their own in ther half of the first inning to tie the game.
Southwestern broke the stalemate in the third inning as Allison Pastor had a RBI groundout followed by a Janna Anderson RBI double to left field to put GSW up 4-1.
Rollins (17-1) rallied back as the Tars notched a run in the third inning followed by three runs in the fourth to pull ahead 6-4.
GSW (11-7) couldn't counter as the Lady Hurricanes' bats fell silent the rest of the way as Rollins prevailed.
GSW starting pitcher Ashley Cavender (2-3) was credited with the loss as the sophomore threw for two innings giving up a pair of runs off three hits for the Lady Hurricanes.
Rollins' Niki Fogle (8-0) got her second win of the day as the freshman had another strong outing throwing for 3.2 scoreless innings on no hits, strking out three for the Tars.
Georgia Southwestern will be back in action Sunday for their second outing of the Sunshine State road rip as the Lady 'Canes travel to St. Petersburgh to take on Eckerd College in double-header action starting at 1 p.m.
