DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The sixth-ranked North Georgia Saints (33-10, 13-5 PBC) used two dominant efforts Sunday afternoon in order to sweep Georgia Southwestern (27-25, 9-13 PBC).

GSW's Rachel McElroy led the Lady 'Canes as the sophomore finished the day going 2-for-5 with 1 RBI.

Game 1: UNG 11, GSW 3 (6 innings)

McElroy got the Lady 'Canes on the board first as her single up the left side drove in Avery Purser in the second inning.

UNG pulled ahead when the Saints scored a pair of runs in their half of the second inning.

Southwestern tied up the contest in the top of the fourth inning when a double by Mason Moreland drove in Ashley Clifton as the Lady 'Canes pulled even, 2-2.

North Georgia quickly answered as the Saints poured in six runs off five hits in the home-half of the fourth inning to take a commanding 8-2 advantage.

UNG extended their lead by adding three more runs in the sixth inning as the Saints coasted to the easy 11-3 victory in six innings.

Southwestern's starting pitcher Allison Pastor (13-8) was credited with the loss as the junior gave up 11 runs off 11 hits in 5.2 innings of play. 

Game 2: UNG 4, GSW 0 

The second contest had less offensive fireworks than the first, but North Georgia used a dominant effort on the mound in order to shut out Georgia Southwestern.

UNG's starting pitcher Courtney Poole had an outstanding effort on the mound on her way to earning her league-best 19th win of the season as the freshman shut out GSW giving up only three hits while striking out 12 Lady 'Canes.

North Georgia scored a pair of runs in the second and fifth innings on their way to a 4-0 victory to earn the sweep on the day.

Ashley Cavender (9-11) was credited with the loss for Georgia Southwestern as the right-hander gave up four runs off seven hits with three strikeouts.

Georgia Southwestern returns to Lady 'Cane Field on Tuesday as GSW hosts Albany State in doubleheader action in the 2013 home finale starting at 5 p.m.
