Tompkins Breaks School Record

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern softball team (16-32) split with Albany State University (19-28) at Lady Canes Field on Monday.

GAME 1: GSW 10 , ASU 2

Keri Tompkins came out swinging in game one hitting a two run home run to not only give the Lady 'Canes the lead but to break the GSW school record for most home runs in a season. Tompkins tied the record back on March 31st when she hit her 12th homer of the season to win the game against Brewton-Parker. She hit another home run in the fourth to break her own record of 13 and make it 14.

The home runs didn't stop with Tompkins. Chelsea Littlejohn hit one out of the park in the third with three on base to get a grand slam and Rachel McElroy hit a homer in the fourth to join the home run club.

GSW finished the game with 11 hits, 10 runs, 10 RBI's and two errors.

Haley Goodson (5-16) took the win for the Lady 'Canes after pitching five innings. She gave up five hits, two runs, walked two and struck out four.

GAME 2: GSW 2, ASU 0

There was no home run club in the second inning for GSW. The game was scoreless for five innings until Albany State hit a home run of their own to take the lead. They scored again in the seventh off a wild pitch to take the win.

GSW finished the game with four hits, zero runs, zero RBI's and zero errors.

Brittany Childs (5-6) took the loss for GSW after pitching six innings. She gave up four hits, two runs, walked four and stuck out one.

Savannah Carlisle pitched one innings, gave up no hits, no runs, walked one and struck out zero.

The Lady 'Canes are home Tuesday to host Columbus State in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
