Columbus Sweeps Lady 'Canes In Season Finale

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern softball team (16-34, 2-20) were swept Tuesday by Columbus State (24-26, 9-15) at Lady Canes Field in the last game of the 2015 season.

GAME 1: GSW 3 , CS 4

Game one was scoreless until Columbus got three across home plate in the fourth and scored another run in the fifth to lead 4-0.

The Lady 'Canes rallied in the sixth to bring in three when Rachel McElroy singled one through the center to bring in Kendall Stanaland and Keri Tompkins hit a double to bring home Chelsea Littlejohn and McElroy. The rally did not continue and GSW lost by one.

GSW finished the game with five hits, three runs, three RBI's and one error.

Haley Goodson (5-17) took the loss for the Lady 'Canes after pitching seven innings. She gave up six hits, four runs, walked five and struck out two.

GAME 2: GSW 0 , CS 3 

Columbus scored one run in the third off a throwing error and scored two more in the fifth; one off a double and the other off a single.

GSW finished the game with one hit, no runs, no RBI's and three error.

BrittanyChilds (5-17) took the loss for the Lady 'Canes after pitching seven innings. She gave up seven hits, three runs, walked three and struck out one.

The Lady 'Canes will be back in February for the 2016 season.
