AMERICUS, Ga.- No. 11 North Georgia swept the Georgia Southwestern softball team in two no-hit conference games on Wednesday afternoon at Lady 'Canes field.
GSW is now 19-17 overall and 4-6 in the Peach Belt Conference while North Georgia moved to 28-5 and 6-0 in the PBC.
GAME 1: GSW 0, UNG 3
North Georgia scored their first run in the second off a double down the left line. The Lady 'Canes defense held them off until the fifth when they pushed two more across the plate, one off a double to left field and the other off a sacrifice fly.
GSW finished with no hits, no runs, no RBIs and no errors.
Brittany Childs (L, 5-5) pitched seven innings, had seven hits, three runs, walked four and struck out three.
GAME 2: GSW 0, UNG 9
The Nighthawks scored in the first off a single and scored again in the second off a double to left center then pushed two more across the plate in the fourth off a two-run double.
North Georgia scored five more runs in the fifth off a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch, a two-run triple and an error to take their second win in five innings.
GSW finished with no hits, no runs, no RBIs and two errors.
Haley Goodson (L, 8-8) pitched five innings, had 13 hits, five runs, walked two and struck out two.
The Lady 'Canes are away on Sunday to play a conference doubleheader against Montevallo starting at 2 p.m.
