AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern softball assistant coach Abby Child is offering two summer camps this year. The first session will be a youth camp broken up into ages 6-11 and 12-17. The second session is a prospect camp for athletes ages 14-18.

Focus of Instruction

Campers will receive top quality instruction from the coaching staff and Georgia Southwestern players. The program is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of softball through individual and group instruction as well as game experience. Not only will the campers be instructed in pitching, catching, hitting, bunting and base running but a special emphasis will include the mental part of the game of softball.

Drills

Campers will learn and perform the same drills as the GSW players, including hitting, bunting, catching and various other fundamental drills to enhance their performance.

Equipment

Campers should bring proper footwear, glove and bat. Please make sure all equipment is marked with campers name. Campers will take many swings, therefore batting gloves are recommended.
Catchers should bring their own catching gear.
A change of clothes will be needed on sliding instruction day.
GSW softball gear will be available for sale each day if interested (cash only).

Staff

All camp activities and instruction will be under the direction of the GSW softball staff and players. All those assisting in the camp will be capable instructors and coaches.

Cost

The cost for four days of youth camp will be $80. The cost for the prospect camp is $60.
A non-refundable fee of $40 must accompany the application. The balance is due upon arrival at camp.
The camp is limited to the first 40 campers per age group that send in their non-refundable fee and application.
