Tierce Named Second Team NFCA Division II All-Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Georgia Southwestern State University softball junior Hayley Tierce has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2018 NFCA Division II All-Region Second Team.

Tierce, a junior from Warner Robins, Ga., is the all-time home run leader for the Lady Canes and leads the Peach Belt with 14 on the season. Tierce started all 51 games and leads GSW with a .323 batting average to go along with 47 runs batted in. She hit three grand slam home runs this spring and tallied five games with four runs batted in while posting three RBIs in five different games for the Lady Canes.

This year's All-Region squads are comprised of 207 student-athletes from 120 programs. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division II All-America squads.

The top two teams in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, North Georgia and Chico State, led the way with five honorees each. The NightHawks (56-2), out of the Southeast Region, garnered two first-team honors, while the West Region's Wildcats (50-3) had three first-teamers. Eighth-ranked Southern Arkansas (Central) topped all programs with four first-team nods.

The 2018 NFCA Division II All-American teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 23 at the NCAA Division II National Championship Banquet in Salem, Va.
