AMERICUS, Ga. -- Senior short stop Hayley Tierce sent her 50th career home run over the scoreboard during game 1 as the Georgia Southwestern softball team swept Point University by scores of 4-1 and 4-3 inside Lady Canes Field Friday afternoon.

Game 1: GSW 4, Point 1

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tierce's 50th career home run put GSW on the board first after a slow start by both teams. With Kayla Kerr on base, Sarah Beth King doubled into left field and received an RBI when Kerr crossed the plate for a 2-0 lead. The Lady Canes called in a pinch runner as Haley Griffin came on base for King. Elizabeth Wills singled into the left field as Lauren Kuerzi, who reached base on a single, advanced to third base while Griffin added another score for the Lady Canes. GSW first out of the game came when Mackenzy McFarland grounded out to the short stop and pushed Kuerzi across the plate for a 4-0 score.

Jennifer Jernigan picked up her sixth win of the season as she matched her season-high, striking out seven batters while giving up three hits and one run in 6.0 innings pitched. Hayley Dickerson picked up her first save of the season, coming in and walking one batter while striking out one to end the game.

Game 2: GSW 4, Point 3

Two home runs in the bottom of the sixth led GSW to retaking the lead and winning the game as GSW rallied from being down 3-1. In the bottom of the second, Kerr stole home on a passed ball to give GSW a 1-0 lead. The Skyhawks (14-14) went to work in the top of the fourth as they put two in the sky for a total of three RBIs to take the lead. With teammate on base, Point's Shatima Smith pushed one over the left wall as she picked up a pair of RBIs. Angela Heimback followed suit, as she sent one in the same spot for a 3-1 lead.

With two outs on the board, Kuerzi picked up her second home run of the season as she sent one out to left field to make the game at 3-2. At bat next was McFarland, who doubled down the left line to reach base. Kayla Rowell picked up her first collegiate home run as she found the perfect pitch to send one over the left field wall as GSW (18-12) retook the lead for the comeback win.

Hayley Dickerson picked up her fourth win of the season as she came in the top of the fourth to relieve Madason Messer, who gave up six hits, three runs and two home runs. Dickerson gave up one hit and walked one batter throughout 3.2 innings pitched.
