AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State softball team earned the seventh seed for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament hosted by the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga., May 3-4.
The Lady Canes finished with an overall record of 27-25, going 10-10 in Peach Belt play to make the conference tournament for the second consecutive year.
GSW earned a Friday, 11 a.m. quarterfinal date with No. 2 seed Columbus State. The Cougars head into postseason play with a 35-15 overall record and 15-5 mark in conference play.
North Georgia hosts the tournament for the second time are the No. 1 seed for the sixth year in a row. The Nighthawks have won the past five PBC Tournaments.
The top eight teams in the conference standings advance to the single-elimination tournament, which will be played at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium on the campus of the University of North Georgia.
GSW finished their regular season with doubleheader losses to Columbus State as both games ended in five innings; hopefully the Lady Canes will be seeking sweet revenge coming into the tournament.
