Kerr and Tierce Named to PBC All-Conference Team

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Junior outfielder Kayla Kerr was named First Team All-Conference during the Peach Belt Conference pre-championship softball banquet Thursday evening. Senior short stop Hayley Tierce nabbed her third at-large selection to the All-Conference Second Team. 

The junior transfer from Somerset, Texas, started in all 52 games as she leads the Lady Canes in multiple categories including batting average (.360), doubles (11) and RBIs (39). Kerr also led the team with 58 hits off 161 at-bats while tallying 28 runs. She is currently fourth on the team with five home runs and stands on a 13-game hitting streak. 

On the defensive side, the left fielder has a .952 fielding percentage with 62 total catches and 55 putouts along with four assists. Kerr has been a part of one double play this season. 

Tierce, a four-time All-Conference player, capped the regular season leading the Lady Canes with 12 home runs and a .462 on base percentage. She is third on the team with a .304 batting average to go with her 31 RBIs. Tierce has nine doubles and one triple. With 138 at-bats, she has 42 hits and 36 runs while also starting in all 52 games this season.

Defensively, the short stop tallied a team-high 118 assists while leading with 11 double plays. She has 205 total catches for 74 putouts as she currently holds a .937 fielding percentage. 

Tierce was named second team All-Conference in 2016 and 2017 but snatched a first team bid during her junior season as a utility player. She was also named PBC Freshman of the year in 2016. She is currently ranked fourth in NCAA DII and leads GSW with 54 career home runs. 

The 2019 softball All-Conference team was selected by the league's head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
