Lady Hurricanes Remain Undefeated at Home

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern softball team remains undefeated at home as they swept Middle Georgia by scores of 2-0 and 8-0 Saturday afternoon at Lady Hurricanes stadium.

Mackenzy McFarland finished the day 3-for-6 with one double, two runs and one RBI. Katelyn Wood hit a three-run home run and Game 2 as she is tied with five home runs this season.

Game 1: GSW 2, MGA 0

It took four innings before anybody could score but with Grayson James on base, McFarland doubled into center field and picked up an RBI to put the Lady Hurricanes went on the board first. A few bats later, McFarland was able to score on a passed ball to make the score 2-0. It was mainly three up and three out for the Knights as Shannon Gibson controlled the circle, giving up two hits while striking out five and walking three.

Game 2: GSW 8, MGA 0

Game 2 was easier for GSW (15-5) as they got the bats swinging early. With Jacie Johns on base, a Knights error led to her putting the first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Morgan Mullin then hit a two RBI double into right field to make the score 3-0. Allyson Murdock started off the bottom of the second inning with a triple into deep left field that landed her in scoring position. A quick and successful bunt by Kimmy Singer plated Murdock to push the score up one. With two on base, Wood stepped up and she sent a bomb flying into center field as she made the score 7-0.

In the bottom of the third, Singer drilled one right up the middle and picked up an RBI as Aimee Oglesby skipped over the plate for the final run of the game. Hannah Holloway controlled the circle with five strikeouts as she only gave up one hit for her second win this season. Both Murdock and Singer went 2-for-2 as they both had one run.
