AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University softball team completed a three-game weekend series sweep of USC Aiken with an 8-6 win on Sunday afternoon at Lady Canes Field.
The Pacers scored first on an RBI single awarding them the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
The game was in a stalemate until inning number three when Katelyn Wood hit an RBI single tieing the game at one apiece.
Action picked up in the top of the fifth USC Aiken took the lead back scoring three runs on two hits and an error that was committed by the Hurricanes.
GSW in the bottom half of the inning on a Zoe Willis grand slam giving the Hurricanes their first lead in the game.

USC Aiken punched back in the sixth inning scoring a run while tieing the game back up.
GSW came back with the knockout punch thanks to another Willis home run scoring three runs and retaking the lead. Willis finished the game 2-for-3 with a career-high seven RBIs. She has 22 home runs this season and entered the weekend tied for the lead in home runs in all of NCAA Division II.

USCA scored in the seventh but it was not enough as the Canes win 8-6.
Willis started the game but got into some early trouble and was taken out after pitching four and two-thirds innings giving up four runs on five hits Savanna Bradford earned her team-leading 16th win coming out of the bullpen.
This was the final home game of the 2023 season for the lady Canes they finished an impressive 22-1 at home. They will conclude their regular season with a three-game midweek series with PBC rival Georgia College and State starting at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
