Lady Hurricanes lose to Georgia College, 51-44
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The women's basketball team at Georgia College & State University (16-7, 11-5 PBC) weathered both the storm outside and inside the Centennial Center Wednesday night against Georgia Southwestern State University (7-18, 2-16) upending the Hurricanes 51-44.
Down by 12 in the second half (38-26) , the Lady Hurricanes clawed their way back with an 18-8 run, closing the gap to two (46-44) with 2:22 remaining. GCSU would score the final five points of the game for the win.
A key statistic tonight for the Bobcats was their ability to make free-throws in the second half as they shot .700 (7-10). Also, in the second half the Bobcats were able to shut down Nadirah Gardner who scored 10 points in the first half, but only finished the game with 12.
Gardner was aided by Brandi Burris and Clarissa Corbett who each scored eight points.
The Bobcats were led by junior forward, Antoinette Reames who posted her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 boards. Mandi Dudish contributed 12 points and Shandrea Moore aided her fellow teammates giving out seven assists.
The Lady Hurricanes, still fighting for one of the ten spots in the PBC tournament, are back on the court Saturday, Feb. 21 at UNC Pembroke for a 2 p.m. contest.

Georgia College defeats GSW, 63-46
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - A few lights went out during warm-ups thanks to a local thunderstorm, but it didn't dim the hopes of No. 25 Georgia College & State University men's basketball (19-4, 13-4 PBC) as the Bobcats beat Georgia Southwestern (9-16, 5-13 PBC) 63-46 Wednesday night in the Centennial Center.
Georgia College got on the Hurricanes early. After a Josh Hurst three with 10:41 left in the first half, the Bobcats had a 19-point lead at 26-7. The gap never got below double-digits, and GCSU stretched their lead to its highest at 26 with 9:10 left in the second half.
The Bobcats out-rebounded the Hurricanes 39-33, and swatted seven shots. The Bobcat bench outscored GSW's 23-6.
Evan Mobley scored 11 to lead GSW. Leading scorer Anthony Sargent did not play for the Hurricanes.
Georgia College hit 10 three pointers, getting six from Shaun Keaton as part of his game-high 20 points. Reece Wiedeman finished with 16 and Justin Brown added 10 points.
The Hurricanes complete their four-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m., against UNC Pembroke.
