Georgia Southwestern dropped their first game of the season 79-67 to Florida Southern College on Saturday afternoon at the Storm Dome.

Brittany Reynolds led GSW with 16 points. Jamilah Sharp turned in a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

The Lady Hurricanes shot 43.3% in the first half, but managed to shoot just 25% in the second half.

Michaela Hawley posted a double-double for Florida Southern with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Hawley had plenty of scoring help, as four other players scored in double figures.  Chelsea Johnson had 14 points, Megan Dzikas added 13 points, Tanja Speaker tossed in 11 points and Alli Fogle picked up 10.

Hawley hit 9-of-15 from the floor, including her only three point attempt with 13 seconds left in the first half to give the Moccasins a 38-36 halftime lead.

Florida Southern (3-0) expanded the lead to 11 points early in the second half, but GSW trimmed the margin to five with 9:40 to go. Hawley and Dzikas each scored four points in a 10-2 Moccasin run that pushed the lead to 13 with 6:21 left and the Hurricanes never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

GSW (1-1) hosts Toccoa Falls on Tuesday (Nov. 25).  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
