AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern Lady 'Canes were looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season to Fort Valley State on Sunday afternoon. They would bounce back with a 95-41 dismantling of the Truett-McConnell College (1-7) Lady Bears on Wednesday evening.

Five Lady 'Canes would score in double figures as part of an offensive attack that saw ten different GSW players score in the game. Leading the Blue & Gold scorers was junior forward Jessica Jones who scored 19 points while grabbing four rebounds. Jones was supported by Jessica Bivins (13 points) and Tania Walters, Terra Branch and Samantha Smith who all scored twelve points. Smith was the only player to register a double-double as she grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with her twelve points. Fellow post player Adrian Randall also tallied double-digit rebounds with eleven boards.

Georgia Southwestern dominated the Lady Bears in about every statistical category. They outshot Truett-McConnell 45.7% to 25.6% from the field, forced 37 Lady Bear turnovers and won the rebounding battle by 31 rebounds.

After a sloppy start for GSW for the first several minutes of the game, Georgia Southwestern put the game away thanks to five of six shooting from beyond the arc in the first half to give GSW the 49-22 halftime lead.

Georgia Southwestern would continue to pick apart TMC to open the second half thanks to a 26-6 run in the half's first eight minutes. They would outscore their visitors 46-19 in the second half on the way to the 54-point victory.

The one and only bright spot for the Lady Bears was junior guard Kelsey Montgomery. The Winder, Georgia native accounted for over 60% of the Truett-McConnell offense with her 26 points. She also intercepted four passes to go along with her scoring output.

The blowout victory improves the Georgia Southwestern record to seven wins and one loss. Coach Britsky and company must now prepare to enter Peach Belt Conference play as they will take on the Montevallo Falcons on the road this weekend. Their game is part of a double-header with the GSW men on the campus of the University of Montevallo on Saturday, December 3. The ladies will tip-off ahead of the men with all action beginning at 2:30 pm EST.
