Young Harris Runs Away from GSW, 67-50

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes couldn't overcome a hot shooting Young Harris squad Saturday afternoon as the Blue & Gold dropped a 67-50 contest to the Mountain Lions.

Young Harris got off to a quick start as the Mountain Lions jumped out to a quick 9-0 advantage five minutes into the first half.

GSW responded with an 18-9 run to tied up the contest at 18 with just under five minutes remaining in the period. 

The Mountain Lions finished the half strong as they used a 10-5 run to take a 28-23 lead into intermission.

In the second half Young Harris was simply on fire. The Mountain Lions used 62.5 percent shooting (15-24) and a 17-5 run over the last eight minutes of the game to run away from the Lady Hurricanes for a 67-50 win.

On the game, Young Harris shot 52.4 percent (22-42) compared to just 32.1 percent (18-56) from GSW.

YHC also held a commanding 41-24 rebounding advantage over the Blue & Gold.

Freshman forward Jasmine McSwain paced Georgia Southwestern (3-17, 1-12 PBC) with 15 points, five rebounds and four steals. Danisha Green also chipped in eight points for the Lady 'Canes.

Young Harris had three players who finished in double figures led by the guard duo of Lauren Smith and Keta Robinette who both tallied 15 points for the Mountain Lions (11-8, 5-7 PBC).

Southwestern returns to the court February 7th for a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Columbus State in the Storm Dome.
