AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern had four players score in double figures while forcing 32 Northwood University turnovers in a 90-66 non-conference women's basketball victory Saturday afternoon in the Storm Dome.

GSW improves to 2-0 this season. The Lady Seahawks fall to 1-3. It was the first meeting between the schools.

Senior Danisha Green scored a game-high 18 points to pace Southwestern behind 7 of 10 shooting. Green also dished out five assists and was a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Juniors Shatoria Hudson and Tiara Thompson posted double figures for the second-straight game as the two finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Thompson pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Senior Shaniece Sheffield added 11 points. 

The Lady Hurricanes trailed only once in game, 2-1, less than a minute in, and began to pull away from Northwood late in the first half.

Following a pair of Sharnele Brown jumpers to pull Northwood within eight at 30-22, the Lady Hurricanes went on an 11-5 run over the final 5:38 and led 41-27 at the break.

GSW came out in the second half and picked up right were they left off, opening the period with an 18-5 burst to build a comfortable 27-point cushion, 59-32. The Lady Seahawks were unable to drop the margin under 23 points the rest of the way.

Southwestern ended the night shooting 55.4 percent from the floor while Northwood was efficient in their own right, finishing at 48.2 percent. Total rebounds were tied, 31-31. The Lady Hurricanes held a substantial points off turnovers advantage (40-14) and dished out nine more assists (21-12) than the Lady Seahawks.

Northwood was led by by Brown's 18-point, seven-assist effort. Emily May and Atavia Blake added 10 points apiece off the bench and Keren Mozes chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Hurricanes travel to Valdosta State on Saturday (Nov. 23) for a 2 p.m. contest.
