AMERICUS, Ga. -- Mariya Trimble scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Georgia Southwestern State University women's basketball team to a 101-97 win in overtime over Albany State Tuesday at the Storm Dome.

The Lady Hurricanes improve to 4-1 on the season with the victory and get revenge on the Golden Rams after they defeated GSW 76-70 on November 17. It was the first time GSW scored 100 points in a game since December 3, 2011 against Montevallo.

How It Happened: A game that featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes started that way in the first quarter. GSW came out strong opening up an 8-2 lead after Gabby Figgers knocked down a 3-pointer less than two minutes into the game. Albany State answered with a 10-4 run even the score halfway through the quarter and neither team would extend the lead by more than two with the Lady Canes leading 24-22 at the end of the first.

Nine different players scored for GSW in the second quarter, led by Tamecia Blue. She came off the bench and scored five points, recorded two steals and dished out three assists in what is by far her biggest minutes of the season so far. The Lady Canes outscored Albany State by three in the quarter to take a five point lead into the locker room.

Tyra Thompson scored nine of her 15 points and grabbed three rebounds in the quarter to lead the Golden Rams to a two-point advantage at the end of three.

The Golden Rams opened up a seven point lead in the fourth before the Lady Canes came back on hot shooting from Gabby Figgers. She scored eight points on 3-of-6 shooting while knocking down two 3-pointers and swiping two steals. Tyisha Moore made a free throw with less than a second left on the clock to send the game to overtime.

The Lady Canes outscored the Golden Rams 13-9 in overtime and forced several ASU turnovers in the final five minutes to seal the victory. Albany State committed 26 turnovers on the afternoon leading to 30 Georgia Southwestern points.

Who Stood Out: Tyisha Moore came close to recording her second straight double-double, pouring in 16 points to go along with eight rebounds.
