AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's basketball team couldn't hold on to a late lead and fell 66-59 to Francis Marion in front of 307 at the Storm Dome Saturday.

GSW falls to 4-8 overall and 1-7 in Peach Belt Conference play with the loss. Shaunice Fulmore scored 23 points to lead the Patriots (9-4, 6-2 PBC).

How It Happened: The Lady Canes jumped out to an early lead for the second straight game, outscoring FMU 19-10 in the first 10 minutes. Mariya Trimble came back from an injury against Columbus State to score eight points in the first quarter while shooting 4 of 4 from the free throw line and 2 of 2 from the field.

GSW struggled to get anything to fall in the second quarter, shooting 6.7 percent from the field (1 of 15). That allowed the visitors to again make an extended second quarter run and Abigail Bullock made a layup as time expired to give the Patriots their first lead of the game at the half (25-24).

Tyisha Moore scored six of her team-high 19 points in the third quarter as the Lady Canes outscored FMU by four in the third. Tamecia Blue added six of her 10 points in the third to give GSW a three-point leading heading to the final frame.

The Lady Canes led for most of the fourth quarter, including a six-point advantage with 7:01 left in the game. FMU came back to tie it at 52 with 3:27 on the clock and the Patriots outscored GSW 14-7 the rest of the way to escape the Storm Dome with the win.

Who Stood Out: Tyisha Moore fell three rebounds short of recording her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds. Moore also recorded two blocks on the afternoon. Mariya Trimble played only three minutes against Columbus State after suffering an injury, but returned Saturday and scored 13 points to go along with nine rebounds.
