Thomas hands GSW third 1-0 loss

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team suffered its third 1-0 defeat of the season on Wednesday afternoon against Thomas University at Remington Park in the Lady Hurricanes final non-conference match of 2011.

Jodi Wright made the most of TU's lone second half shot on goal when she punched in the game's deciding score in the 68th minute. Teammate Kelsea Whitaker dropped a pass from midfield that found Wright in the center of the pitch where she was able to convert an eight-yard kick near post.

In a match where both sides struggled to put together an offensive attack, Thomas (4-4-1) finished with a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal. GSW goalkeeper Amber Bahri stopped three in the first half.

Ally Canganelli took two shots to lead the Southwestern offense.

The Lady Hurricanes have lost their last four meetings with Thomas.

GSW (3-6) travels to UNC Pembroke on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
