Lady Canes Drop 2-1 Decision to Lander

Greenwood, S.C. - The Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricane soccer team couldn't come back from a 2-0 deficit Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Lander Bearcats, 2-1, at the Jeff May Complex in Greenwood, S.C.

The 'Canes, looking to ride a wave of momentum from their thrilling double overtime victory against Brewton-Parker this past Wednesday, played the Bearcats even through the first half.

In the second, a goal from Jamie Shaw and a header from Jenny Peterson put Lander up 2-0.

In the 87th minute, freshman forward Amber Milner got the Hurricanes on the board with her first career goal but the Blue & Gold couldn't muster anymore offense as they fell 2-1.

On the game, the Bearcats outshot the 'Canes 37-4 including a 15-3 SOG advantage. Senior GSW goal keeper Amber Bahri had a great defensive effort for the Hurricanes as she accounted for 13 saves on the day.

Georgia Southwestern falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the PBC and Lander improves to 3-1-2. The Lady 'Canes return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 18, as they travel to Alabama State.
