AMERICUS - After sitting through a 75 minute weather delay, senior defender Amanda Canganelli pulled the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team within a goal of USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field, but the Lady 'Canes eventually lost 2-1.

GSW dropped its second straight match to fall to 2-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the PBC while USCA improved to 4-6-1, 3-2 PBC. The Pacers lead the all-time series, 6-1-1, but the last three meetings have now been decided by a goal with USCA winning the last two contests.

USCA managed to put their two scores over the top of GSW goalkeeper Amber Bahri with the first score coming in the 33rd minute. The second tally was courtesy of Aubrey Danielson at the 62:52 mark.

Minutes later, Canganelli delivered a beautiful shot off a free kick from 25 yards to cut the USCA lead in half. It was the Buford native's first collegiate goal.

The Lady Hurricanes were unable to muster the tying score over the final 22:50.

The numbers from the match heavily favored the Pacers as USCA outshot GSW on goal, 11-3, and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Bahri stayed busy for GSW between the pipes as she saved nine shots in the contest. Alli Edens stopped two for USCA. 

Southwestern travels to No. 12 Columbus State for a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
