Lady 'Canes Struggle, Lose At Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Georgia Southwestern allowed three goals in the opening 18 minutes to the University of Montevallo on Wednesday evening and suffered a 7-0 defeat in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action.

The Lady Hurricanes have now lost their last five contests and fall to 2-9-1 overall and 0-7 in conference play. Montevallo improves to 5-6-2, 2-4-1 PBC. Southwestern has yet to defeat Montevallo. UM leads the all-time series 6-0.

The Falcons' Brittany Woodhouse went to work early on GSW Wednesday as she scored the first two goals of the match within 66 seconds of one another. The first came at the 13:13 mark and second followed at 14:19.

UM wasted little time opening the lead to 3-0 as Christine Prince scored in the 18th minute.

GSW surrendered four goals in the second half, with the final two scores coming in the 83rd and 88th minutes.

Montevallo controlled shots on goal (13-4) and corner kicks (6-1).

Kaylee Krohn led the GSW offense with four shots in the match, two on goal.

Amber Bahri saved five shots during her 72 minutes between the pipes for GSW. Jordyn Birchett stopped one over the final 18 minutes.

Taylor Kerr saved four for UM.

Southwestern wraps up a two-match road trip on Saturday at PBC-newcomer Young Harris College. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
