Scoring Woes Continue In Loss At Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS - The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team surrendered a goal in each half to Peach Belt Conference newcomer Young Harris College on Saturday afternoon in a 2-0 defeat at Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.

The Lady Hurricanes have lost six straight and fall to 2-10-1 overall and 0-8 in conference play. Young Harris improves to 6-6, 2-5 PBC. It was the first meeting between the two schools.

Mika Lopes put the home team ahead in the 29th minute with the game's first score and Whitney Thomas completed the scoring with a goal in the 54th minute.

While Southwestern had its best offensive effort since a 2-1 loss to USC Aiken on Sept. 29, the Lady Hurricanes were shut out for the fourth-consecutive match.

YHC led GSW in shots on goal, 11-5, and held a 7-4 corner kicks advantage.

Amber Milner led GSW with three shots on goal.

Southwestern goalkeeper Amber Bahri saved nine shots to move to the top of the PBC with 78 stops this fall.

Yustin Nambo saved five for YHC.

The Lady Hurricanes return to Americus for a 3:30 p.m. match on Wednesday against Clayton State.
