Lady Canes Fade In Second Half, Lose 4-0

AMERICUS - Sometimes you can only hold off the enemy for so long. That was the case for the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field. After holding Lander University to one goal in the first half, the visiting Bearcats unleashed three scores in the second half to hand the Lady Hurricanes a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference loss.

Casey Black found the back of the net twice for Lander and Nina Morales assisted on a pair of goals to lead the Bearcats (5-0, 1-0 PBC).

Lander finished with a 12-2 shots on goal advantage and 15-2 margin in corner kicks.

Elyse Gowan played the opening half in goal for the Lady Hurricanes and saved five shots. Vanna Lucke stopped three in the second half.

Katie Lyle saved two for Lander. She has not allowed a goal through five matches, playing 390 minutes between the pipes.

Southwestern (0-6, 0-2 PBC) steps out of conference play for a 4:30 p.m. midweek match on Wednesday at Thomas University.
