Lady 'Canes Shutout Screaming Eagles

AMERICUS, Ga. - Haley West scored her first goal of the season in Georgia Southwestern's 4-0 win over Toccoa Falls Tuesday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

GSW moved to 3-3 overall, while Toccoa Falls is now 2-5-2.

Khayla Owens scored eight minutes into the game when she caught a cross from West and dribbled the ball inside the box to put it top left, making it her sixth goal of the season.

The Lady 'Canes  second goal came two minutes later when West took the ball that bounced right off a Screaming Eagle in front of the net and booted it past the keeper, Emily Blecha had the assist.

GSW led 2-0 at halftime and recorded 13 shots in the first half.

Ella Hawkins scored GSW's last two goal one minute apart. The first goal came in the 51st minute when she took a pass from Shelbi Walker and dribbled it inside the box to score. The second goal came in the 52nd minute off a breakaway. 

Goalkeeper Elyse Gowen recorded her second shutout of the season and made two saves in the 51:55 minutes she played. Chelsee Wright played the remaining 38:05 and made one save.

GSW finished with 25 goals, 17 on net while Toccoa Falls had five shots, three on net.

The Lady Hurricanes are home on Saturday to host USC Aiken in their second conference game of the season at 1 p.m.
