Second Half Struggle

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team held off UNC Pembroke in the first half but four second half goals gave UNCP the win on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

GSW dropped to 3-6 overall and 0-4 in the Peach Belt Conference, while UNCP improved to 6-2 and 4-0 in the PBC.

A strong effort by the Lady 'Canes in the first half kept the score even at halftime with no points on the scoreboard.

The Braves picked up the momentum in the second half and scored their first three goals in five minutes.

The first goal came at the 56th minute from inside of the box and through to the top right corner. They struck again in the 57th minute again form inside the box and scored their third goal in the 61st minute from in front of the net and shot it to the lower left corner.

The Braves last goal came in the 72nd minute to win 4-0.

GSW finished with five shots, three of which were on goal while UNCP recorded 29 shots, 14 on goal.

Elyse Gowen played all 90 minutes between the pipes, faced 14 shots and made ten saves.

The Lady Hurricanes travel to Montevallo, Ala. on Wednesday for a conference match against the University of Montevallo at 5 p.m.
