Lady 'Canes Fall To Falcons 5-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala.- The University of Montevallo scored two goals in the first half and three in the second to beat the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team Wednesday afternoon at Varsity Field.

GSW is now 3-7 overall and 0-5 in the Peach Belt Conference, while Montevallo moved to 3-5-1 and 2-3-1 in the PBC.

The Lady 'Canes defense held off the Falcons for the first 20 minutes, blocking the majority of Montevallo's shots until one crept past them and into the net. The Falcons scored again 17 minutes later off a rebound to lead 2-0 at halftime.

Montevallo scored their third goal five minutes into the second half and again in the 69th and 73rd minutes to take a 5-0 victory.

GSW finished with four shots, three of which were on goal while Montevallo recorded 31 shots, 14 on goal.

Elyse Gowen made eight saves in the 75:14 minutes she played and Chelsee Wright had one save in the remaining 14:46.

The Lady Hurricanes travel to Columbus, Ga. on Saturday for a conference match against the Columbus State Cougars starting at 1 p.m.
