YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team played a man down for 66 minutes due to a red card in the first half and took a 13-0 defeat to Young Harris College Wednesday evening at YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
GSW dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-11 in the Peach Belt Conference, while YHC improved to 9-2-3 and 8-2-1 PBC.
YHC scored seven minutes into the first half and scored three more in a four minute window to lead 4-0 at halftime.
Shyanne Busby took an unfortunate foul 24 minutes into the first half and received a red card that forced the Lady 'Canes to play with 10 for the remainder of the game.
YHC scored 15 seconds into the second half off a penalty kick after GSW took another foul and scored again 32 seconds later off their own rebound to lead 6-0 at the 46:17 mark. YHC scored seven more times in the second half to take a 13-0 victory.
Elyse Gowen was on track to break the PBC individual record for most saves in a match. Gowen faced 25 shots and made 19 saves in the 53:36 minutes she played.
Chelsee Wright faced 18 shots and made 11 saves in the 36:24 she played between the pipes.
GSW had three shots, Sholeh Rezaee had two shots on goal and Khayla Owens had one on goal. YHC recorded a total of 61 shots in 90 minutes.
The Lady Hurricanes travel to Greenwood, S.C on Saturday for a conference match against Lander University at 1 p.m.
