Mountain Lions Claw Lady Canes at Hurricane Field

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team fell 9-0 to Young Harris in a Peach Belt Conference match in front of 106 at Hurricane Field Wednesday.

The Mountain Lions (9-4-1, 6-2-1 PBC) opened the scoring in the fifth minute on a goal from Maria Martinez and added six more in the first half to put the Lady Canes in a deep hole early.

GSW (0-14-0, 0-9-0 PBC) was able to hold Young Harris to just seven shots in the second half and kept them off the board until the 71st minute when Tenysha Taylor was able to put away a shot from more than 20 yards out on the left side. Emily Ober rounded out the scoring in the 85th minute with her fourth goal of the season.

Lady Canes goalkeeper Sammie Conley recorded five saves in 73 minutes to give her 128 on the season. Ellie Cook made four saves in 16 minutes after coming on for Conley.
