Lady Canes Drop Close Game to Royals

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team dropped a close 2-1 game to Warner University today at Hurricane Field for Wet and Wild day.

The Royals were eager to get on the board and early in the first half they did. In the sixth minute, Royal's Samanntha Warren slid past a GSW goalie, who was out of place, for an easy score to put the game up 1-0.

Before the end of the first half, the Lady Canes (2-3) showed some spark as Emily Collum went unassisted in the 43rd minute to get her squad on the board, tieing the score 1-1. Collum's goal came right in the midst as Royals players were scrambling to kick the ball out of the box, Collum snuck it in.

In the second half, Warner (3-2-1) quickly scored again as Royal's Natalia Carneiro goal put her team on top in the 52nd minute. She was assisted by Danielle Stanley.

Although Warner led with more shots on goal (9-7), GSW led in multiple categories tonight, taking more shots (15-12) and more corner kicks (5-1) over the Royals.

GSW's lone goal is Collum's second career goal of the season; she is tied with teammate Ella Hawkins
