#23 UNG Too Hot For Lady Canes

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Lady Canes Ella Hawkins, now with her fourth goal of the season, scored the lone goal for GSW as #23 North Georgia took the 7-1 Peach Belt Conference victory on Hurricane Field tonight. 

In the 14th minute, Hawkins broke free and shot a perfectly aimed ball right out-of-reach of the UNG's goalkeeper hands to put the Lady Canes (2-6, 0-3 PBC) on the board. 

UNG (6-1, 3-0 PBC) put up four goals in the opening half, as Renee VanHorn put the Nighthawks on the board quickly, scoring in the opening minute. In the sixth minute, Rosie Embley put her squad up 2-0 with the help of VanHorn. In the 24th minute, Meredith Tucker, with an assist from Dani Shartouny, gave UNG the 3-1 lead before Abbie Crane pushed her squad to the 4-1 halftime score.

Five minutes into the second half, VanHorn broke away to score her second goal of the night, making the score 5-1. In the 60th minute, Haleigh Elmore, followed by Michaela Sundstrom in the 70th minute, both had goals that showed a final score of 7-1. 

Hawkins, Alisa Barr, Alison Rugel and Leila Hamed all had two shots each for the Lady Canes tonight, as Barr, Rugel, Hamed and Hawkins also had on goal shots. GSW was outshot 32-9 tonight as the Nighthawks also led with 17 shots on goal compared to the Lady Canes 5.
