Drained GSW Falls to Shaw

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team were drained as Shaw came to town, leaving the Lady Canes scoreless during their 4-0 route to victory in a non-conference matchup on Hurricane Field.

Plaguing with injuries, GSW (2-8) used their whole bench in today's match but still came up short. Alison Rugel led the way with a total of 10 shots, as three of them were on goal. Shelbie Mills had five total shots and Leila Hamed took four shots while both took two shots on goal.

On the opposite end, Shaw's (6-0) Jasa Curry led the way for her squad with two second half goals. Curry's first goal came assisted by Leslie Mendoza in the 55th minute to put her squad up 3-0. Her second goal came five minutes later, as she slid by GSW's goalkeeper for a quick goal, finalizing the 4-0 win.

Although the Lady Canes outshot the Bears 23-10, they had trouble landing one in the net. Shaw led with 10 shots on goal compared to GSW's eight while both teams took a total of three corner kicks.
