Women's Soccer Earns PBC Sportsmanship Award

Women's Soccer Earns PBC Sportsmanship Award

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team was acknowledged by the Peach Belt Conference Friday afternoon as the 2018 Team Sportsmanship Award recipient.

The Peach Belt presents one such award for each of its 15 championship sports, as voted on by the other teams in each particular sport.

GSW, who shares the Team Sportsmanship award with Francis Marion University, wins the women's soccer honor for the sixth time overall.

Georgia Southwestern has won a total of 20 Team Sportsmanship Awards.

The PBC Sportsmanship Award program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. The team award is selected by other teams who compete in that sport. Points are awarded based on how each team finished in the voting and in June, the institution with the highest totals will receive the 'PBC Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.'

The league's senior administrators oversee the program.
