Women's Soccer Program Lands Three on NSD

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Head women's soccer coach Enrique Rodriguez started the spring off right by signing three high school seniors during National Signing Day.

"I'm really proud to have these student-athletes a part of the family," Rodriguez said. "We're looking forward to continuing our success both on and off the field and these student-athletes will help play an integral role with that this upcoming season." 


Emma Carter | McDonough, Ga.

Carter attends Eagle's Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Ga., where she lettered in soccer and cheerleading. Throughout her four years, she's accounted for 14 goals and 21 assists for her squad. She was named All-Area during her sophomore and junior campaigns while also being named Team Captain her junior year. Carter has been named to the honor roll multiple semesters while also being nominated for the Principle's Award. She played for AFC Lightening under team coach Donald Kirkland.

Carter states that her biggest sports moment is scoring a penalty kick to help her team make it to the Elite 8. 

Carter plans to major in Nursing and minor in Biology.


Alexia "Lexie" Henderson | Pike County, Ga.

Lexie attends Spalding High in Spalding County, Ga., where she lettered in soccer. Henderson has been to the 2-4A State Playoffs in all of her years playing, making it to the Final Four during her junior year. She also has a pair a back-to-back Region Championships under her belt. While at Spalding, Henderson was a part of the Beta Club and she also won the Outstanding Athletic Performance in Health/Personal Fitness Award. She played for the AFC Lightning '00 Gold Girls NPL under team coach Glenn Fox.

Henderson states that her biggest sports moment was making the varsity team her freshman year and starting every game. She also states that getting her first yellow card was another big moment. 

Henderson plans to major in Exercise Science and minor in Kinesiology. 


Payton Johnson | Dacula, Ga.

Johnson attends Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Ga., where she lettered in soccer, basketball and cross country. She was also a kicker for the football team where she converted seven extra points. She recently played for the Gwinnett Soccer Association. 

Johnson states that her biggest sports moment was scoring the winning goal after being tied 2-2 against a team that was much larger than hers.
