Lady Hurricanes Tabbed 11th in Preseason Coaches Poll

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team was selected 11th in the Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the league office Wednesday morning.

GSW returns 13 players from a squad that went 3-14, 0-10 in conference play last season. Senior Alison Rugel will be leading the Lady Hurricanes this year as she finished last season with two goals and one assist, including a game winner at Southern Wesleyan for GSW's first win of the season.

"It's always going to be a challenge in this conference," head coach Enrique Rodriguez says. "These are the results based off two years; hopefully in this third year we'll see the light at the end of the tunnel."

The Lady Hurricanes fall right on top of newcomers Albany State, who they defeated last year 3-1. GSW first home game will be on Sept. 5 against Brewton-Parker under the lights on Hurricane Field.
