Freshmen Duo Pushes GSW To Victory

ROME, Ga. -- Freshmen Geraldine Alvarez and Payton Johnson scored goals in each half as the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team took a 2-1 victory over Shorter University Saturday afternoon on Ben Brady Field. 

In the 25th minute, Alvarez put GSW (2-2-1) on the board first. Johnson followed suit in the 54th minute as she extended the lead with her second goal of the season. GSW led the way as all of their five shots on the night landed on goal, with two of them slipping through as the Hawks only took three shots. 

Hannah Morrone was eight minutes shy of capturing her second career shutout as the Hawks (0-5) managed to sneak one in through the back of the net for the final 2-1 score.
