Patriots Blank Lady Hurricanes In PBC Match

FLORENCE, S.C. -- An early second-half goal proved the only difference during a Peach Belt matchup between the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team and Francis Marion. GSW was on the latter end of the stick as FMU secured a 1-0 win Saturday evening on Hartzler Field.

In the 54th minute, Patriot's Dayle McEwen found a loose ball inside the box where she scored the sole goal of the game as FMU earned their first PBC win of the season.

GSW (3-7-1, 0-5-0 PBC) took only five shots with three of them landing on goal. Alison Rugel led the bunch with two shots, followed by Eduarda Giusti, Leila Hamed and Geraldine Alvarez

On the opposite end, the Patriots finished the day with 14 total shots, as seven of them landed on goal. McEwen and Carli Gauthier both led FMU (4-5-1, 1-4-0 PBC) with three shots each. GSW was outshot (14-5) as FMU also took more corner kicks, 5-1, than GSW.
