Georgia Southwestern State University head women's soccer coach Enrique Rodriguez has announced the hiring of Luciane Wentz as his assistant coach for the 2017 season.

Wentz enters her first season as a coach after playing in all 18 games as a senior at Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga., last fall. As a midfielder for the Night Hawks Wentz started 15 games and was fourth on the team with 1,422 minutes logged on the field. She scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Keiser (Oct. 29), while assisting on goals at Warner University (Oct. 1) and vs. Johnson & Wales (Oct. 27). Wentz tied for second on the team with 23 shots, eight of them coming on goal.

A native of Porto Alegre, Brazil, Wentz played her junior season at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. She played in 16 games and made five starts, scoring four goals and adding three assists. Wentz played and started every game as a freshman and sophomore at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.
