Young Harris Wins Two Against GSW

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams lost their inaugural Peach Belt Conference matches against newcomer Young Harris College on Saturday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. The men lost 8-1 and the women fell 7-2. All three of GSW's wins came in doubles play.

#26 YOUNG HARRIS 8, GSW MEN 1

Joseph Bjerregaard and Matt Vansant picked up the Hurricanes lone victory on the men's side with a 9-8 decision over Brecht Vangrinsven and Devin Hampton at No. 3 doubles.

Evgeniy Vinogradov pushed Joan Valls to a third set at No. 1 singles for GSW.

Southwestern has lost seven of its last nine contests and falls to 3-10 overall and 0-6 in the PBC. The Mountain Lions improve to 7-2, 3-2 in the PBC.

YOUNG HARRIS 7, GSW WOMEN 2

As was the case in the men's match on Saturday, the Lady 'Canes picked up a win at No. 3 doubles against the Mountain Lions. The ladies added a second victory in doubles at No. 2.

Kalie Douberly and Taylor Jones picked up their third PBC doubles victory of the spring with an 8-4 decision over Lina Parra Pava and Diana DiMarco.

Mollie McGowan and Ginny Jones matched their teammates with a third conference victory after defeating YHC's Victoria Herndon and Stormy Dvorak, 8-6.

The Lady Hurricanes drop to 7-12 overall and 0-8 in the conference while YHC improves to 9-3 and 4-2 in the PBC.
