Back-To-Back 9-0 Wins For Women's Tennis

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team swept Albany State, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

GSW had little trouble with the Lady Rams in doubles play, dropping one game over three matches.

Celia Castillo-Torres (No. 3), Jamie Thomas (No. 5) and Ashley Denby (No. 6) all won 6-0, 6-0 in singles action. Anneliese Leahy cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Kendall Crew was victorious 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Lauren Resnick handled Torian Foston, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4.

The Lady Hurricanes improved their record to 3-3 overall while Albany State fell to 0-2.

GSW kicks off Peach Belt Conference play this weekend with matches at USC Aiken (Saturday) and Lander (Sunday).

The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team picked up its second win of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

Sydnee Smith and Anneliese Leahy defeated Taylor Navarro and Luz Padilla, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles while the team of Kendall Crew and Celia Del Castillo Torres handed Becky Rivera and Ashley Lane an 8-2 loss at No. 2.

Crew (No. 3) and Del Castillo Torres (No. 4) went on to 6-0, 6-0 wins to highlight singles competition.
