AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team is now 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Peach Belt Conference after an 8-1 loss to Clayton State (2-4, 1-3 PBC) on Sunday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.
Freshman Celia del Castillo Torres picked up the lone win for GSW with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) victory at No. 4 singles over Maria Mendes. Del Castillo Torres improved her singles record to 6-4 this spring.
The GSW doubles team of Sydnee Smith and Anneliese Leahy had a strong showing in their 9-8 loss in No. 1 doubles.
Southwestern heads to Middle Georgia State on Wednesday for 5 p.m. a non-conference match.
