GSW Tennis Suffers Pair of 8-1 Losses To Middle Georgia

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams were swept by Middle Georgia State University in a pair of 8-1 losses on Wednesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

GSW returns to action on Friday with a 2 p.m. match at Fort Valley State.


MIDDLE GEORGIA 8, GSW WOMEN 1

Celia del Castillo earned the Lady Hurricanes lone point of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Daniela Nino Duarte to improve her singles record to 6-4 this spring.  

Kendall Crew pushed Yannick Garcia to a tight first set in the match at No. 5 singles before falling, 7-5, 6-1.

The closest doubles match came at No. 3, where Anneliese Leahy and Charli Allen lost 8-5.

 


MIDDLE GEORGIA 8, GSW MEN 1

The Hurricanes lone team point came at No. 6 singles, where Middle Georgia had to default due to injury.

Alex Canovas Ferrando and Beau Millwood provided GSW's best opportunity for a doubles victory, before falling 8-6 at No. 2.

Steven Blythe lost 6-3, 7-5 in a close match with Nishanth Rebello at No. 1 singles, and Millwood lost 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 3.
