AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team status and put five student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, which was the second-highest total by a Peach Belt Conference school for the 2018-19 season.
Seniors Charli Allen, Kendall Crew and Celia del Castillo, sophomore Alexandria Rhodes and freshman Hannah Hogg earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the Lady Hurricanes. The award is given to all varsity letter winners with two semesters at their current school and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the academic year.
GSW was one of five Peach Belt programs to earn the All-Academic Team recognition, joining Augusta University, Columbus State University, Francis Marion University and Georgia College.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).
