COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern cross country team finished second at the Cougar Invite hosted by Columbus State Friday evening. Ashleigh Owens led the Lady Hurricanes by completing the 2-mile course in 13:09.43 for a 5th place finish out of 28 runners.
Savannah Ross was two seconds behind Owens with a time of 13:11.8, placing her 6th overall and second for GSW. Katherine McGarr was the third GSW runner across the line in 13:36.1, placing 9th while Lauren Ard crossed the line 11th with a time of 13:45.51.
Victoria Hickom finished 13th at 14:10.5 and Eyonnti Edwards had a time of 14:24.65 placing her 14th. Mary Catharine Calcutt was right behind her teammates finishing 15th with a time of 14:28.99 and Shelby Parsekian was 16th finishing in 14:39.41.
Columbus State took home the team title with a total of 17 points.
Rayna Green from Columbus State finished first overall with a time of 12:54.22.
The Lady Hurricanes return to action Saturday for the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Gainsville, Ga.
