8 NCAA Division I Programs Featured at ASICS Cross Country Invitational

FAIRBURN, Ga. — Freshman Allie Brown continues a dominant freshman season as she continued to lead the Georgia Southwestern State University women's cross country team at a highly competitive race this weekend, the ASICS Cross Country Invitational hosted by Alexander High School featured both a college and high school event. The college event was a packed crowd that featured 26 teams including multiple Division I programs and also many fellow Peach Belt Conference members. Brown, who finished 99th overall, paced the Lady Hurricanes by completing the 5K course in 20:11.6 which was her fastest time of the year so far. Junior Sarah Earley crossed the finish line second for GSW on Saturday with a time of 21:16.4, good for 142nd place out of a total of 236 runners. Madaline Toth rounded out GSW's top 3 finishers and took 203rd place with a time of 23:27.8. 

GSW finished the event ahead of two Peach Belt Conference members, Young Harris and Clayton State.

Samford won the event with four of the top eight runners giving them a cumalitive score of 36. Samford's team event win was dominant as they beat second-place finisher Florida State University by 49 overall points.. Georgia Tech runner Sarah Copeland finished first in the race with a time of 17:38.2.
